The Author of this website is Alan Woodward. Alan has put together a short Biography for the gentle reader to peruse. The Author is a huge fan of Doctor Who, an huge fan of engineering (both electrical and mechanical) and fancies himself as a website writer. He is also a fan of American Sci-Fi shows, such as BattleStar Galactica and Dollhouse.
Alan fancies himself as a web designer. Despite the fact that he is nowhere near artistic whatsoever and doesn't carry one artistic bone in his body, nevertheless, he ignores this somewhat salient fact and still persists in writing websites. |

The Author (Alan) is now a fully fledged member of the microblogging universe Twitter! Whilst he is still getting to grips with it, his latest three "tweets" can be found on the left of the page [Alan's Tweets]
He is open to being "followed", if you can stand the pace!

The following websites were written by Alan:
This one! http://www.woodysnet.co.uk
As the core site for Alan - this was the second domain that he registered many years ago. The second, as he thought the first one (www.woodysweb.co.uk) was a bit naff for an email address, so changed it to woodysnet.co.uk. He still thinks it's naff, but is so unoriginal he can't think of anything really snappy! So he stuck with this one and indeed it runs several things. The website has been through several incarantions - none of them very good due to the lack of original material to put on it. Therefore this is yet another attempt at going for it again - this time using Joomla! as the core engine (so he doesn't have to design anything). Since the last web incarnation, he has written another site using Joomla! and is terribly impressed by the whole concept of CMS. So this is a trial of Joomla! for Woodysnet, but this time only incorporating the things he wants on there. I think.
*Update* Another update - this time for this site! My thoughts when I transferred this site to Joomla! were to have the site as a reference site for the work, life and times of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. This aspiration is still true, however I wanted to expand the site to encompass just a bit more than that. Hence this raft of web updates. |

Girlschool Unofficial Website http://www.girlschool.uk.net
This one was written many years ago and is now in it's third incarnation. The original bits of it were incorporated into the old woodysweb/woodysnet website and he decided to split it out into it's own site. This was mainly because he knows one of the bass players from Girlschool and remains a fan to this day. When time allows, he will work on this site as it hasn't been updated for a very long time!
*Update* The old "second regeneration" site has now been transformed and updated to a "third regeneration" site and now uses Content Management technology (web 2.0) as it's basic foundations. All of the old material has been transposed onto the new format and the whole site has been updated to bring it up to date. |

Georgia Moffett Fan Website http://www.georgiamoffett.co.uk
Alan is a Doctor Who fan. He also doesn't have a very good memory for somethings....noteably faces and names!! Therefore, when reading the blurb for what was then the forthcoming fourth series of (the new) Doctor Who, the face (and name) of a certain actress rang a bell but couldn't place her!! Turns out that he had been watching Georgia Moffett for years without realising just who (no pun intended!) she was! And thus began the long trek into the Georgia Moffett Fan Website!
This was mainly borne out of the fact that Alan had always wanted to do a "useful" website. Not just one that displayed pictures of his holidays, or one that had weak and watery content...but one that served a specific purpose...like a Fan Website. Having done the Girlschool one and discovered that not only was there an official site (hence the "unofficial" in the title) but there were several others around, there didn't seem to be much around on the internet for Georgia Moffett.
Deciding that this was indeed a shame - as she is a very good actress indeed (as evidenced in programmes like The Bill etc) - Alan decided to make tentative enquiries as to the availablility of site names. On discovering that the very domain name he was wanting was available (georgiamoffett.co.uk) he promptly bought up not only that one, but the .org, .com, .net ones as well!
That done, Alan's task was to design a website. Now having mentioned that Alan is not artistic, he then spent several weeks flailing around madly waiting, nay hoping, for inspiration to strike. That came in a flash and the "Mark I" site was designed. Thinking that information about this great actress was few and far between, mistakenly designed a website that would only be three or four pages at the most. (As per usual) He was wrong and the website soon outgrew itself. Hence the move to Joomla! CMS-based website and web 2.0 technology...and he hasn't looked back since!
Alan decided from the very outset (in February 2008) that this should be a "proper job" and not just a half thought-out and not very well researched one. So he has invested a considerable amount of time in not just scouring the internet for articles, but investigated the way to make your website popular and to reach the intended audience. This he has done with reasonable success, as at today's date (12th September 2008) the Georgia Moffett Fan Website stands at No 3 in Google Rankings when the search term "Georgia Moffett" is entered. A considerable acheivement, although there has had to be investment - very worthwhile, however. |

Zoe Tapper Fan Website: http://www.zoetapper.net
I saw this actress first in a film a few years ago and was stricken by both her good looks and her acting ability. She then re-surfaced as one of the major characters in the BBC remake of Survivors (I am a sucker for remakes!) and shortly afterwards in Demons, as the Vampire-cum-Piano-Playing-cum-Monster-Smiter Mina Harker. As with the Georgia Moffett situation, internet searches etc reveal next to nothing about this excellent actress. Therefore - another website is born! Again based on web 2.0 CMS technology, this website has so far proven to be the most difficult to design! |

The Lucy Liemann Fan Website: http://www.lucyliemann.net
In a similar train of thought to the Georgia Moffett Fan Website and the Zoe Tapper Fan Website, I saw Lucy Liemann about four years ago on the telly. Never gave it a thought until she cropped up in Moving Wallpaper a couple of years ago and then in the recent Reggie Perrin series as Reggie's love interest\fantasy woman with the brilliant Martin Clunes.
As with the Georgia Moffett situation, internet searches etc reveal next to nothing about this excellent actress. Therefore - another website is born! Again based on web 2.0 CMS technology, this website has so far proven to be the most difficult to design, as I use four separate templates to create a totally different look to any of my others. This one has a static front-page too, with just a photo and a scant menu - a departure from all of the others where the main (dynamic) information is carried on the front page. I like it, anyway. |
