The BBC Radiophonic Workshop
This website was originally designed as a source of information for The BBC Radiophonic Workshop, it's members and it's work. Although all of this information is around on the Internet (somewhere!) this site is meant to bring it all together into a coherent and readable fashion.
The intention of the BBCRW articles is for readers to gain an enjoyable insight into this collection of musical and electronic geniuses, who worked for this little known BBC Department from 1958 to 1995 (and on).
I hope you enjoy the information presented on this site and if any of it is copyright without the owner's consent, then I apologise - please contact me and I'll remove it - no infringement is intended. Most information is © BBC no infringement is intended.
Recent additions to the BBCRW Members Pages are the biographies of the main Radiophonic Workshop members and on the BBCRW Doctor Who Page, a 1 hour radio programme that was dedicated to Delia Derbyshire.
BBC's Inside Out programme featured an eight minute piece fronted by Stuart Maconie, that highlighted a little bit of Delia's career (mostly the Doctor Who theme). The whole section is on the BBCRW Doctor Who Page. Included in the new Radiophonic Workshop Video section is a download link to "Alchemists of Sound" - a documentary made for BBC Four that focussed on the work of the Radiophonic Workshop from 1959 to 1995.
