Hammer Films
Having an interest in Hammer Films - particularily the Hammer Horror films of the late 60's early 70's, I've put together a history of Hammer Film Productions from 1934 to the present day. This history is not a listed filmography, it is a written history of the conception, the implementation and the production of the Hammer Film Company from when William Hinds first formed the company, to the present day. [The main article is quite long and detailed - be warned!]
The history is by no means complete and we will be adding filmography listings in the future once the information has been collated!
Hammer Films were synonymous with horror and gore films in the late 1960's 1970's and to reflect their contribution to the film industry - the horror film industry in particular - there is a history of the Hammer company from 1934 to present day.
Hammer employed such stars at the time as Peter Cushing and Sir Christopher Lee, who cemented their performances of Baron Victor Frankenstein and Dracula into the ethos of horror films for years to come. Several genre films made since Hammer stopped making their Gothic Horror pieces have been made deliberately in the "Hammer Style", reflecting the influence that the film production company had over today's film makers and producers.
Hammer Horror films in particular were also famous for launching (or not, in some cases!) the careers of several young actresses - collectively (and endearing) called the Hammer Glamour Girls.
A sub section of the Hammer Story are features about of the so-called Hammer Glamour Girls - starting with Valerie Leon.
